The Ladies of the Thursday Night Knitters Guild

knitting ladies
The ladies of the Thursday night knitters guild are a faithful lot. Every Thursday evening, without fail, they gather in the back corner of the Textile Emporium on Third street. Other members may come and go, but these three show up, week after week. Phyllis always seems to have a new grandchild to knit for. Agnes, considering herself something of a fashion diva, makes unusual pieces mostly for herself or her younger sister, the artist Madra. And June just loves yarn. She doesn't make much but likes looking at yarn, feeling it, talking about things she could make with it, browsing through knitting books, and anything else related to knitting. And of course, they mostly get together to talk about anything and everything happening in their little town of Lake Shore.

"The Ladies of the Thursday Night Knitters Guild" are sold separately. Each one comes with her rickety wooden chair, her knitting project, plus several skeins of yarn and some (non-opening) knitting books. In addition to feeling right at home in the knitting shop, they can also be just as comfy sitting in someone's livingroom.

People are made of Prosculpt© polymer clay, with Kato© and Premo© clays used on their clothing and hair. Everything is hand made, with no molds used. They have foil armatures for durability. Additional coloring is done with Genesis© heat set paints. Their clothing is made using my own technique for realistic, fabric-like clothes. Their clay hair is hand molded and styled to suit each individual. Phyllis and June's eyeglasses are made from wire and are removable.

Chairs are made from balsa and basswood, and painted. The two little knitted projects were done on tapestry needles, using embroidery thread. The little yarn skeins were made with various threads and fine yarns, with labels attached to each. The yarn does not pull out of the skeins like real ones do. The majority of the books have covers and backs, but no real pages. Each lady will come with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity, in it's own protective sleeve.

Please remember, these are not toys and not intended for children. They are tiny little pieces of sculpted artwork, to be collected and displayed.
